UPSC will conduct a Pre exam for civil service exam on 19 may 2013. Notification of UPSC IAS Exam 2013 will be out on 2 February 2013. Last date of application form submission is 4 march 2013. upsc ias examination 2013 will comprise civil service examination objective type pre, descriptive mains, and interview test. For the screening the application for ias mains examination 1st of all pre exam will be conducted After that upsc will hold mains examination of written paper for civil service examination. After that those candidates who will be declared qualified in written exam will call for and final interview test.
Upsc Preliminary Exam 2013:
Upsc preliminary examination will be conducted on 19 may. Civil service pre test will consists two objective paper referred as Paper 1 and paper 2. This paper will be objective type of nature. Question will carry maximum 200 marks for each paper. You will get total two hr for question paper attempting. Minus marking is also applicable in pre exam. So for each wrong question 1/3 mark of the scored marks will be deducted.
Upsc ias mains examination
Upsc ias mains examination will be start from 8 November 2013. Only those candidates will get opportunity to participate in mains examination who will declared qualified in upsc pre examination. Approximately 15 time candidates of recruited no of the post got the opportunity to participate in mains examination. Mains examination will comprise 9 papers as jobslip.in mention below. The basic goal of mains examination is to evaluation the in general academic qualities and the depth of understanding of the candidates, rather than only the range of the information and memory. Only adequate option of question will be permissible in mains question paper. Question paper medium of ias mains examination will be Hindi as well as English language.
Eligibility criteria for upsc ias exam:
Nationality: for IAS and IPS an applicant must be a citizen of India.
Age Limit: minimum age limit for applying Upsc ias exam 2013 is : 21 year as on 1st august
Pattern of the IAS Main Examination
The written examination will consist of the following papers:
Compulsory Paper for all candidates
Paper 1 One of the Indian Languages* 300 marks
Paper 2 English of 300 marks
Papers 1 and 1 are of a qualifying nature only. The marks obtained in them will not count for ranking purposes.
Paper 3 Essay of 200 marks
Papers 4 and paper 5 General Studies - (Papers I & II) 300 marks each
Optional Subjects - (2 Subjects)
Papers VI & VII Optional I (Papers I & II) 300 marks each
Papers VIII & IX Optional II (Papers I & II) 300 marks each
Grand Total (Papers III to IX) 2000 marks

No of maximum attempt in ias exam: A candidate is allowed four attempts only,
subject to the age limits. An OBC candidate is allowed a maximum of
seven attempts . There is no maximum on the number of attempts for a cSC/ST canddaite
